Steel Rule Die Cutting

  • An automated process where rolled or sheeted material is cut to a predetermined shape and size with mounted cutting tools, commonly referred to as a 'clicker cut' or 'punch cut'.

SKIVING

  • Roller skiving cuts materials to your desired thickness. Roller Splitting/Skiving operates by compressing the material between two rollers to push it through a fixed, ultra sharp knife edged blade. Thickness is controlled by the relative distance of the rollers from the blade and the amount of compression required to push the foam through the blade. Roller splitting/skiving can process large quantities of material faster and handle higher-density materials.

  • In the automotive industry, SES Packaging leads the design and implementation of expendable and reusable packaging systems that drive supply chain optimization. With over 25 years of industry experience, SES Packaging experts design and implement effective packaging to meet your requirements. SES Engineering Services experts are available on-site or off-site to seamlessly implement cost-effective packaging programs. Implementation Services projects can range from one day to a week or more, depending on the application.

WATERJET CUTTING

  • An automated process of cutting into material using a jet of water or a mixture of water with abrasive material, at high velocity and pressure.

HEAT LAMINATION

  • Heat lamination is the process of bringing two surfaces together by heat to form a thicker block with a laminated bond equivalent in strength to that of the individual sheets. Heat lamination combines different materials, densities, and colors to create multi-layer composite sheets.

    SES currently offers heat lamination service in Scarborough, Ontario. By pushing the materials through a heated blade, the heat melts the surface of the foam, turning it into a tacky substance that essentially acts as an adhesive and creates a permanent bond. It is more cost effective and better performance when compared to glue or adhesive. We can combine different materials, densities, and colors to create multi-layer composite sheets.

  • Additional Support Capabilities

    SES Packaging Systems also provides additional support capabilities and services for primary and secondary packaging fabrication. They include the following:

    - Sonic Welding: Ultrasonic welding uses high-frequency vibration to melt and weld plastic. A tool vibrates at ultrasonic frequencies and causes concentrated molecular vibration in the weld joint. The friction between the molecules heats and melts the plastic.

    - Glue Application: Application of industrial strength adhesive through glue roll coater machines and high flow piston pump handgun systems.

    - Custom manufacturing of high-grade covers, tarps, and pouches for all industries ranging from Architectural to Transportation.

    - CNC Router Table: CNC router is a computer-controlled cutting machine which is used for cutting various materials such as composites, plastics, and foams.

  • What type of material do we use? 6 major materials.

    XLPE Foam - Cross-linked polyethylene foam (also known as XLPE) is a closed-cell foam characterized by a micro-cellular appearance and resistance to water. XLPE materials are used in applications that require protection of class “A” surfaces. XLPE foam is used extensively in packaging, moulded and die cut gaskets and seals.     PE Foam - Polyethylene foam is strong and resilient closed‐cell foam, ideally suited to absorbing shock in protective and cushion packaging applications.

    PU Foam - a flexible material, polyurethane foam is produced from combining polyol, isocyanate, and water. Polyurethane custom foam padding is highly durable and is used as cushioning in a wide array of products, such as packaging, furniture, car seats, and mattresses.

    Bubble Guard Board - Bubble GUARD is a multi-layer alveolar board made from 100% polypropylene with a unique circular honeycomb structure core at the centre and two flat surfaces on either side with great versatility and high performances. It is 100% eco-friendly & recyclable. Also available is the DOUBLE LAYER BUBBLEGUARD board with the highest weight range up to 6000 GSM.

    Fluted Polypropylene Coroplast - rigid material made of polypropylene plastic. Sheets of Coroplast have a fluted core and are smooth on both faces and are available with different material laminations on one or both sides.

    Kraft Paper - Kraft paper is produced through the chemical conversion of wood pulp, resulting in a strong and durable paper product.
